The Anniversary

Staged at Fairfax Theatre as part of the Short + Sweet Festival, I directed a rip snorter of this two-hander by American playwright Drew Larimore, and it went down a treat. Deftly delivered by dreamcast of Debbie Zukerman and Tiffany Loft, this rollicking depiction of the daily drudgery of life for two apocalypse-surviving widows verged very fleetingly on poignant at times, then catapulted swiftly back into the ridiculous. I highly recommend exploring Drew’s work; he is a delight to work with, responsive, accomodating and funny. As the premier staging of ‘The Anniversary’, our production is credited in Penguin Random House’s collection ‘Shorter, Faster, Funnier’, now available digitally and in hard cover.

“No one is safe. Two Brooklyn women have found themselves in Siberia. We assume because New York isn’t the safe place it used to be. Drew Larimore’s script combines good characters with mystery, tension and comedy.”  Annie-Marie Peard, AussieTheatre.com
